First, let me say:

Happy New Year!

I can’t believe it is 2010 already? I can still remember the time when I first decided to start building websites and create some sort of a web presence for myself. That was in mid-late 2002! Wow, time flies by!

It’s 2010, and I know this can sound a little funny, but let me ask you this. Think about 2011. How far does it feel? I don’t know about you, but to me, it feels like I’ve got quite some time until 2011 hits. However, re-read the paragraph above. Time flies! I know that 2010 is just going to go by quick and I’m sure you agree too.

We’ve got big things coming up this year. World Cup South Africa YEAH!! That’s going to be the highlight of the year! Vancouver Winter Olympics too! Sweet! The Hy-wire is supposed to be around the corner. I’m a little hyped up about the Burj Dubai too, being an engineer. Personally, we’ve all got big events for us that will make 2010 fantastic.

Online, I’ve got small plans and big plans. Let’s face it, my 2009–goal wise–was pretty bad. I didn’t exactly follow my goals and tried to tap into new and different markets, which made me lose focus. So, I’m looking to make the first year of this decade a little different and am planning on an approach that tackles the roots once again.

For Internet marketers, you can use all your tricks up your sleeve and utilize your cool custom tools and scripts. However, at the end of the day, nothing beats a hard work on just getting the fundamentals done. I hope to go back to it and try to stay away from the numerous distractions that the enjoyable Internet marketer’s world offers.

In regards to this blog, I hope to document my works a little better to help people out. I find it that when you know how to make money online and strive to perfect the impossible game of marketing, you kind of get bored from time to time and inspiration from fellow marketers just don’t cut it. However, inspiring new people and helping others start from the roots can be interesting and I personally think it will be a rewarding experience too. I’ve taught math and physics for college-bound kids. As much as I enjoy sharing knowledge on multivariable calculus and Gauss’s Law, I wouldn’t mind running something like AzoogleAds 101. So, look out for this blog to help you out a lot (hopefully).

Summary on Goals for 2010

Promote my network every other day

Rebuild content for all the sites and maintain updates

Do not start any more projects until BloggersBB reaches 40% of its goals

Exploit more sources of traffic and find new areas of revenue

Have a go again at AdSense (as I like affiliate marketing the most, but hanging out with Big G isn’t so bad)

Update ahnternet on a regular basis with at least two helpful posts a week

Ride a new wave and find a new work routine to stay away from distractions

This post or a list of goals will most likely change by the summer of this year. Why? Because I’m determined to overachieve. Although I’m still a student, who said you can’t do this all while double majoring and minoring?

2010, here I come!

So I will admit. I have been a poor blogger in 2009. Less than 50 posts and many of the posts that I posted… they were all pretty bad. This year is quickly coming to a close, and I’m about to give this blog a big change and a lift from its dormancy. Get rid of some of those cobwebs in the WordPress admin dashboard and give some life to this thing.

2010 Changes

This coming year, at least for the first month, I’m going to test around what I can and cannot do with this blog. Currently, aside from this blog, I have school work to do (Engineer’s life is tough!), a personal blog I (seldom) post, a community to run, a soccer blog to maintain, and promotion to do for all my sites. Then I have that gaming community that I have been trying to start but never got around. I probably won’t touch that until Summer 2010, but what the heck, I’ll still mention it here. Not to forget, I also have a personal life to keep up with and running. I do have other small sites here and there, but those don’t take up nearly as much time as the ones I mentioned, so I’ll pass on those. Plus, those have been running fine anyways.

On ahnternet, the biggest change that you readers should see are obviously the increase in posts. So I’ve been really bad and have been posting crap. Well, that’s about too change. Expect from this blog at least two quality posts that should help you out on the topics I focus on in this blog: making money online, blogging, internet marketing, social networking, and community management.

Another thing you should notice is hopefully me checking out your blogs. I’m at the forefront of running a community for bloggers of all types. I might as well practice sharing tips and helping out on this blog as well as over at BloggersBB. What does this mean for you? As I don’t have every one of your blogs in the favorites, please make a comment and I’ll head over and return the favor.

So, let’s see how this goes with this year. I’m taking more classes than ever this coming quarter, so academically, I will be extremely busy. However, I still do want to keep my hobby going, so yeeeaaah!

So the roundups are back since the blog itself is back too! It feels so good to be in summer vacation!

Post Roundup for June 2009

Frankly, nothing much was posted in this blog since I only made my serious comeback mid-June. Hence, the only worthwhile article would be:

Chasing Money Or Digging Interests

How Much Do You Spend On Renewals? (If you are interested in mine!)

Link Love for June 2009 Week 4

So lately, I’ve been reading a few old and new blogs since my “hiatus” and to get myself back up-to-date, I’ve been reading a lot. Some of the more noticeable and excellent ones were…

How To Promote Your Blog Over Instant Messaging is an interesting post over at Blogussion about a potential channel for advertising. I don’t wholeheartedly agree with the article and its effectiveness in reality (but that could be just me), but if you primarily use instant messaging for business work, it is an interesting article to look over.

Things To Consider Before Starting Multiple Projects is a post by Teenius on multiple projects. I found myself being quickly overwhelmed with multiple projects, but never really gave it a good thought on why. I’m lazy, so I like how this article laid it all out for me.

How To Land The Big Interviews is an excellent post from Stanley at TUK. Often times, those A-list bloggers can be a tad bit intimidating to approach in fear that you might approach them incorrectly and go in their badbook. Well, this one tells you how to NOT make those mistakes.

Conclusion

So I’ve decided to make these monthly roundup posts’ conclusion part slightly different from the weekly roundup posts. From now on, I’ll be posting a couple goals that I will try to achieve before the next monthly roundup post. Let’s see how this goes.

Double the RSS subscriber count

Guest post on another blogger’s blog

I’ve just made my return to this industry, so my monthly income from my mini-sites is quite low. However, starting next month, I hope to provide monetary “prizes” for my missed goals and my top commentators. So… stick around at ahnternet!

Post Roundup for February 2009 Week 1

I guess my posts weren’t of a quality that I had expected and I really didn’t post this week. Anyways, here are the two that I’d appreciate, if you gave some attention to.

I’m Making A 300 Entrecard List

25 Awesome, High Quality, Free WordPress 2.7 Themes

Link Love for February 2009 Week 1

Here’s the first week’s link love. There were actually a lot of great posts this week (as if there aren’t any other week?!) so it was a little bit harder to choose the three that I would recommend without potentially embarrassing myself and this blog for recommending it. Maybe a solution could be more link love at the end of every month… Anyways…

Building Backlinks For 2009 is an article from IBB and Shannon pretty much nailed the backlink building on the spot. Especially when PR is a lot harder to attain than in the past and with more and more bloggers popping up from here and there, it never hurts to have some massive backlink and authority in the blogosphere. Speaking of authority…

The Power of Authority And How To Become One from Andre talks of how you can really be an authority in the blogosphere not through backlinks but just through how you speak. There’s a reason why John Chow and Shoemoney can get quite a bit of people to do stuff that mutually benefits them, such as those viral twitter contests.

What Does Success Mean? from Enkay is another great post. I just want to highlight the second point that he made on how blogging is really a community thing. A blog is certainly not created by one person. Although the writer(s) behind it is important, visitors and commentators are just as important.

Conclusion

I guess this blog is starting to pickup from where it left off as I’m starting to see an increase in traffic. Now, I just need to get these traffic converted into subscribers. A few things I’m looking at doing the next week is maintaining the posting frequency, commenting more on other blogs within my niche, and an interview (hopefully) with a blogger that has recently come back to the scene.

Post Roundup for January 2009

So this month I did get back to my posting routine. Hopefully this routine will stay alive as I’ve set my 2009 resolutions for this blog. Also, I’ve pumped out a few articles from time to time as hey, recalling my experiences and doing some further research for my readers helps me too. Some of the highlight articles include:

Why Sometimes You Just Need To Initiate

It Never Hurts Being Too Careful

Outsourcing RIGHT Is Cheap BUT Beneficial

Why Domain Investment Is NOT For Newbies

Link Love for January 2009 Week 4

It seems like everyone is full of love these days. Anyways, before Valentines comes around, let me share some of the posts that caught my attention over the last week.

Why Blogging Is the Undisputed Culture? is actually a guest post on thou shall blog, so while credits go to Yan for accepting the awesome post, credits go to Donny too as he wrote it in the first place. Anyways, a great article on just the reasons behind blogging. Why do you blog?

What Kinds Of Posts Generate The Most Traffic? is a post from Iron Blogger and it makes you think… “Am I writing a post that actually would cause some vibe in the blogosphere? It is definitely one of Iron Blogger’s best posts (in my opinion, although he has too many!) and it definitely is worth a read!

Hiatus Vs. Selling Your Blog from Enkay is a pretty good post to read if you are kind of lazy blogging and are even thinking about potentially selling your blog. I’ve had this debate many times myself too, so if you are like me, check it out.

Top Commentators

Well, this blog still needs to pickup its pace, so this place is empty for this the previous month. However, I’ll be sure to give free link back to the five top commentators aside from the link they get from the blog page itself.

Conclusion

I feel somewhat thankful that I’ve now found a time to blog. Last quarter, just entering the university and all… it was crazy and I really missed this place. Some things that I’m hoping to focus a bit more starting next month is putting out some quality content and receiving a steady stream of 5+ comments per blog. Help me by commenting, will you?

So with the month of January quickly coming to a close already, today, I thought I might as well check up on how I was doing with A Few 2009 Milestones I set earlier this month. To simply sum it up, I’ve been pathetic. That’s right, simply awful.

Looking at the five main goals I set, sure they are long term goals that are to be achieved by December 31, 2009, but looking at the pace that I have been going this month, I’d be surprised if I even reached half that milestone. Sure, my other online projects have had its usual ups and downs this month. I’m currently working on getting some soccer articles up and even potentially a music related website (as money always follows passion). However, for ahnternet, things have certainly not gone so well. Thus, I’ve decided to take things bit by bit and actually post them on here for all the readers here because I found myself following commitments that I post publicly. I did this with BloggersWalk before (it has been a while since I typed that name) and it worked out pretty well. Therefore, Static now presents you his weekly posting schedule.

While I’ll have weeks where I post more, it will be most likely off this blog’s niche, which as of is somewhat personal and somewhat making money online blog. Anyways, the days that I’ll be posting are Thursday and Sunday/Monday. These are the two days (or I guess not really days considering a post can come up either on Sunday or on Monday) when I will guarantee a quality post that will hopefully be helpful to you guys.

When does this start? I’ll start it starting this weekend with a post that I meant to publish earlier this month. Let’s see how this goes.
